They shamed Democracy

They shamed Democracy: Shashikant Singh
"God will never forgive you, may you never be elected in the election again. On next oncoming 15th parliamentary election; people should punish you all, you have no any right to be paid any salary or avail any facilities, and you all are wasting the money of people." These were the sentences of Somanth Chaterjee for the members of Parliament when they were creating nuisances during the last session of the 14th Lok Sabha, one of the oldest Member of Parliament known for his honesty and Hon'ble speaker of 14th Lok Sabha. This harsh comment of Somanth Chaterjee does not only reflect disappointment and pain of an old man who is unsatisfied due to the non-democratic behaviors of Lok Sabha members but explains the reality of what ever is going on in the Parliament, is the most unfair. These unexpected scenes were being telecast live in several channels and people were watching the betrayal of general mandate in utter frustration. Finally, it is not in the favour of our country and her democratic system.

Further Somnath Chaterjee adds in an interview to a channel "most painful moment in my parliamentary history was the time when members tossed the bundles of currency". Moreover, it happens during the confidence motion on nuclear deal and several members accused the ruling government of UPA of bribing them and threat to cast vote in their favour.

In another instance, in 2007 Lok Sabha witnessed another worst time in the parliamentary history when few Parliament members were accused to take bribe in order to raise questions in Parliament! Most of these members were of Bhartiya Janta party {BJP} who claims to be a party with full of moral values and few were of RJD who claims to be a leading party for social justice of the deprived people. However, surprisingly, only few were expelled from Parliament and rests were given clean chit instead of any legal action or jail.

It should be taken as a serious note, as these sessions were telecast live in the entire news channels. Billions of people all over the world were watching what was going on in India, which claims to be an ideal and biggest democracy in the world. Indian Parliament was in ridiculous situation. It is a serious matter as it concerns direct to the democratic system. In spite of raising questions regarding the problems, we are facing in our day-to-day life, in spite of strengthening democratic values; they are playing with our sentiments. These examples are sufficient to say that they are exploiting democracy making Indian Parliament ridiculous before the whole world. They must not be given any further chance, so it should not be taken lightly in on coming parliamentary elections. They must be punished with the clear perception to save democracy and strengthen democratic values.
