Trafficking as a phenomenon has
been defined by the UN general assembly in 1994 as: “the illicit and
clandestine movement of a person across national and international borders,
with the end goal of forcing women and girl children into economically
oppressive and exploitative situation for the profit of the recruiters,
traffickers, as well as other illegal activities such as forced domestic
labour, clandestine employment and forced adoption.”
